I agree! We should be able to embrace our religion not feel shame about it every time we wish someone a Merry Christmas. People shouldn't hesitate before saying two kind words just because they contribute to their religion.

I'm an atheist, but I still call it Christmas, because that's just what it's been called for the past few thousand years (before which it was the birth of Mars and the Winter Solstice) and therefore, that's what it IS. Christmas is NOT a traditional holiday for any living religion except Christianity and anyone else who wants to celebrate it needs to realise that they're just piggybacking off someone else's holiday just ignore the meaning ascribed to it by the Christians if it bugs you so much. Don't like that? Don't celebrate it.

The "dumbass religion" part takes it a bit far for me.

I was asked by my Filipino professor to give an example of a startling statement, and being a stupid girl that I am, I said "A group of Muslims celebrated Christmas" and I got bashed by my prof. I lost my religion ever since. But I won't lose Christmas! (I get money from this holiday!)

People who combat anyone saying "Merry Christmas" with "I'm atheist" or "I'm -such and such a religion-" really annoy me. One should realize a CRAPTON OF PEOPLE in PLENTY of places in the world celebrate Christmas... And they're not typically Christian. It's sad it's been dulled down that much, to someone who is Christian like me, but it's just a reason why they shouldn't get all uppity in the first place. ;n;

Not to mention, it's just common sense. Most people in America celebrate Christmas. It's a big holiday. It's a meaningful holiday. And it's Christmas. Of course people are going to say 'Merry Christmas' to you during Christmas.

It's not implying anything. SIGH. Then again, common sense has become very uncommon nowadays.

I guess people get bugged about it because the person who said it just automatically assumed they were Christian..which should come as no surprise, seeing as how Christianity is the most widely practiced religion.

I don't understand why people can't just say "Oh, I don't celebrate that, but thanks anyway", instead of going off on some long-winded rant about how they don't celebrate it, or some other stupid bullshit.

Fuckerssssss

when people say happy holidays to me I get real annoyed. I find it insulting. christmas is christmas. say it with me. "merry christmas."
saying happy holidays is confusing. For all I know they would be wishing my a happy groundhog day.

Absolutely. I heard of some people getting pissed because someone told them 'Merry Christmas', and would reply saying 'I'm athiest.'. Seriously people, open up your minds a little. It's wishing you a good holiday. Good Lord.
Or, some cases where a person sneezes and the other person says 'God bless you'. And the sneezer gets mad. :iconfacepalmplz:
